Vrsi is widely known for its sailors is located on a small peninsula in the far northwestern part of northern Dalmatia, around 20 km away from Zadar.

Croats on the territory of the village settled in the 7th century AD and that the ancient Roman remains and medieval settlements built Jasenovo, Vrsi, St Thomas and Seline. The existence of these settlements testify and some names that are mentioned in the sources, and continued to live in Vrsi and after the withdrawal of the Turks.
With pride we mention the vine Barakovića who lived in Seline. In this area and our famous poet George Baraković had possession of 1586 and is probably right on that vine mentioned area today called Barakovci.
The Venetian-Turkish wars in the 16th and 17th centuries the 4 villages: Jasenovo, Vrsi, Sv. Toma and Seline were destroyed and deserted, and from them created a unique village Vrsi.
Most of the population following the withdrawal of the Turks in Vrsi moved from the area of Kotar, Bukovica and Lika. The first data on the number of inhabitants was recorded in 1603 and then they performed had 100 inhabitants. Through the years, the population is on the rise and now lives in Vrsi 38 family names or genders.
The fact that they carry out arising from four settlements, confirmed by the church, which still remain in the areas of the former settlements. Today, our town proud of its churches that make up our cultural heritage.
